Franz’s Passion, the Origin of Los Bayos

More than a hundred years ago, Franz, a Swiss immigrant, chose Misiones, Argentina, as his new home.

He was searching for fertile soil, pure nature, and a place where he could live according to his passions:

agriculture and horses

In the heart of the Misiones rainforest, he began raising bay horses, noble animals that accompanied him through every day’s work.

At the same time, he cultivated yerba mate on small farms, following simple and natural methods — far from the industrialized processes that were already taking over the market shelves.

Franz used to say that the packaged yerba mate sold in stores felt hard, heavy, and unnatural — it didn’t sit well with him.

So, he decided to go back to the origin:

Hand-harvested.
Large leaves, coarse cut.
Naturally aged, without chemicals.

His legacy did not end with his life.

Although fifty years have passed since his death, Franz’s passion remains alive.
Each pack of Los Bayos Orgánica is a tribute to that immigrant who united his Swiss roots with the red soil of Misiones, blending the nobility of his horses with the authentic spirit of yerba mate.
